Play History Guesser

Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains what information BestQuizzes.com (“the Site”, “we”, “us”) collects when you play our quizzes, including History Guesser, why, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain.

1. Who we are

The Site is operated by [YOUR NAME / BUSINESS NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS], United Kingdom. We are the “controller” of your personal data for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. The short version

  • You don't need an account to play, and we don't ask for your name or email.
  • Your game progress and stats are stored on your own device (browser local storage), not on our servers.
  • We only use Google Analytics if you say yes in the cookie banner.
  • We don't sell your data.

3. Information we collect

Technical data from your browser. Like every website, when you visit, your browser sends technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the date and time. Our hosting provider (Netlify) and database provider (Supabase) process this to deliver the Site and to keep it secure, and may keep it briefly in server logs.

Game data on your device. Today's questions, your guesses, your score history and your cookie choice are saved in your browser's local storage so the game works. This data stays on your device; we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Analytics data (only with your consent). If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the Site — for example pages viewed, approximate location (country/city derived from IP address), device and browser, how you arrived at the Site, and game events such as starting a game, guessing and finishing (including your score). Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses.

We do not intentionally collect special category data, and the Site has no sign-up, comment or upload features.

4. How and why we use it (lawful bases)

Advertising. The Site does not currently show adverts. If we introduce advertising in future (for example programmatic ads served by Google or other ad partners), we will update this policy, list the partners involved, and ask for your consent before any advertising or personalisation cookies are used.

6. Who we share data with

We use trusted service providers (“processors”) who handle data on our behalf under contract:

  • Netlify, Inc. — website hosting and delivery (USA).
  • Supabase, Inc. — the database that stores the questions (data region per our project settings; company based in the USA).
  • Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC — Google Analytics, only if you consent.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of the Site, our users or others.

7. International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK–US “Data Bridge”, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent measures offered by the provider.

8. How long we keep it

Server logs are kept by our providers for short periods (typically up to 30 days) for security and troubleshooting. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Data in your browser stays until you clear it.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to our use of it; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (this won't affect anything we did before you withdrew it). Because we don't hold accounts or names, we may be unable to identify data relating to you, but we will always try to help — just contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to sort out any concern first.

10. Children

The Site is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Analytics is only enabled with consent; if you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before accepting cookies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add advertising or new features. The “last updated” date at the top will change, and where the change is significant we will ask for your consent again where required.
